LINGUISTIC IMMERSION

The School offers two lines of schooling, the difference of which is based on the predominance of Spanish or English as the main language of learning.

As part of the School’s internationalization project, the demand for linguistic immersion in English grows every year in response to current and future needs. Currently it is offered from Early Childhood Education (3-year-olds) to 5th grade Primary.

Over the past six years our immersion project has acquired solidity and success, becoming a program highly sought after by families.

Educación infantil

  • 20 teaching hours of English (2/3 of the day)
  • Learning to read and write in Spanish with specialist teachers who work with the students for one hour each day.
  • The student reaches a great understanding of the language from the early years, with a highly developed auditory perception of accents and pronunciation. Little by little oral expression begins, initially in daily actions within the classroom through repetition.
  • With immersion, language becomes more spontaneous and natural, both in comprehension and in use.
  • The tutor only addresses the children in English, which leads them to strive and excel in the use of the language within their natural environment.
  • The faculty of our immersion classes have extensive experience in teaching English as a foreign language and in the age of the students. Many of these tutors are native speakers or bilingual and go through a demanding selection process.

Primaria

  • 18 teaching hours of English (>1/2 of the day)
  • The core subjects (Language (Spanish), Mathematics, knowledge of the environment and Social Sciences) are taught in Spanish under the conviction that for a meaningful, conceptual, and deep learning, based on the elaboration of critical and visible thinking and on the formulation of questions, activities that stimulate curiosity and motivation to learn should be done in the child’s mother tongue.
  • In the first years of Primary Education the children begin to acquire fluidity and fluency in English.
  • In this program English becomes more spontaneous and natural, both in its understanding and in its use.
  • From the 3rd grade of Primary, a setting system will be established in strictly English language hours so that each student follows their learning rhythm and has a challenge adjusted to their ability.
  • The faculty of our immersion program in Primary education have extensive experience in teaching English as a foreign language and in the age of its group of students. Many of these tutors are native speakers or bilingual and go through a demanding selection process.
