28 Ene 4th primary graders: we´re very proud of our intrepid explorers (vídeo)
As was to be expected, nothing could deter our explorers from accomplishing what they set out to do. In these strange and challenging times, our little adventurers (and their teachers) have shown their capacity to adjust and adapt. Faced with the impossibility of celebrating the annual Explorers Fair, they have discovered a new way to share their feats and discoveries with the CVE community.
Through simple Flipgrid videos, our explorers were able to tell their stories, relate their adventures and describe their challenges. We know they missed the chance to share their experiences face-to-face, but they have used this opportunity to further develop their oral communication skills and have now learned how to create their own videos in Flipgrip and share them via classroom.
While working on the transdisciplinary unit: «Where we are in Space and Time» the challenge was not simply to learn about the lives of famous pioneers and discoverers, students also learned how to use the past simple tense, correctly say dates and years in English and write short paragraphs. Perhaps the most rewarding aspect of these personal journeys was that it allowed our students to follow their own natural curiosity to explore what most interested them about their adventurers. They developed written and oral communication skills, learned to research from multiple sources, created their own books and worked on being inquirers and open-minded.
We´re very proud of our intrepid explorers and have no doubt that they will apply what they have learned as they continue to explore, question, innovate and create their own adventures!
